Rooted in Ritual: My Jupiter Return and This Season’s Joys
My Jupiter Return, Issan Strawberry and Cucumber Salad and my Favourite Summer Scents
Hey my loves,
We’re almost at the height of summer! Which means Leo season is fast approaching (sorry Cancer lol) and I’m ready for it. The softness. The slowness. The shift. This season has been asking me to pause, to reflect, and to move with more intention. And with Jupiter entering Cancer (my Jupiter return!), I’ve been sitting with what it means to truly come home to myself emotionally, creatively, and spiritually.
In this issue, I’m sharing what’s been coming up for me under this cosmic transit, along with a few things bringing me joy right now: the summer scents I can’t wait to wear, a dish I recently fell in love with and recreated at home, and a moment to tune into your own rhythm with a few journal prompts I hope land exactly where they need to.
It’s a little bit cosmic, a little bit sensual, and all from the heart as always.
Let’s get into it!
With love
Jourdan
You know when a dish just lives rent-free in your mind? That was me after a recent visit to one of my fave London spots, Kiln. Their Issan strawberry and cucumber salad was that girl! Bright, punchy, refreshing… it had me hooked. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so of course I had to try and recreate it at home. I paired mine with some charred gai yang (Thai grilled chicken). The sweet crunch of cucumber, juicy strawberries, a little heat and herbs, it gives summer in every bite. So simple, but so good
Issan-Style Strawberry & Cucumber Salad
A juicy, herb-packed salad with a kick—perfect for hot days and flavour cravings.
Ingredients:
300g ripe strawberries, halved
1 cucumber, thinly sliced (you can use half-moons or ribbons)
1 red onion, thinly sliced
A handful of coriander
A handful of fresh mint leaves
A handful of Thai basil or regular basil
1 small red chilli, finely sliced (adjust to taste)
juice of 1 lime
1 tbsp fish sauce (or soy sauce for vegan option)
1 tsp palm sugar or light brown sugar
Roasted rice powder or crushed roasted peanuts
Method:
In a bowl, whisk together the lime juice, fish sauce, and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
Add the red onions and let them sit in the dressing for 5 minutes to soften.
Gently toss in the strawberries, your herbs and chilli.
Taste and adjust — you want that balance of sweet, sour, salty, and heat.
Finish with a sprinkle of crushed peanuts or toasted rice powder
Gai Yang (Thai Grilled Chicken)
Bold and smoky chicken that plays so well with bright, herby salads.
Ingredients:
Your choice of chicken pieces
1 lemongrass chopped
3 cloves of garlic
1 tsp coriander roots
1 tsp white pepper
1 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp palm sugar or honey
Juice of ½ lime
1 tbsp of preferred oil
Method:
Wash and clean your chicken
Blend lemongrass, garlic, coriander, white pepper, soy, fish sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, lime, and oil into a marinade.
Rub over chicken and marinate, the longer the better, but 30 minutes
Grill over medium-high heat for 8–10 mins per side until charred and cooked through, or bake in the oven for 35 -40 mins
Rest, and enjoy!
Jupiter in cancer: homecoming of the heart
9th June 2025 – 30th July 2026
Jupiter has finally and officially entered Cancer, which feels close to my heart. I’ve been anticipating this transit since 2023, since my chart reading with Ashani the Alchemist, not just because of what it means for the collective, but because it’s my Jupiter return! A moment that only comes around every 12 years and marks a new cycle of growth, alignment, and expansion.
But first, let’s talk about the energy we’re all moving through.
Jupiter in Cancer: A Shift Into Soft Power
Jupiter is the planet of abundance, expansion, and blessings and when it enters Cancer, the sign of home, emotional depth, and nourishment, everything softens in the best way. It’s a reminder that growth doesn’t always have to be loud or fast. Sometimes, real expansion looks like feeling safe in your body, rooted in your values, and supported by the people and rituals that truly matter.
Cancer energy pulls us inward to check in with ourselves, tend to our emotional needs, and reconnect with our roots. It’s a beautiful time to:
Pour into your home both your physical space and your inner world
Honour your intuition and let it guide your next steps
Redefine what abundance means for you
Reclaim softness, slowness, and care as powerful forms of success
Let the love you give to others be something you also receive
My Jupiter Return
For me, this return is happening in my second house, which speaks to value, money, security, self-worth, and the way we support ourselves. It’s such a grounded placement, and it’s making me reflect on what it means to build a life that feels good, not just on the outside, but on the inside too.
This return is asking me to honour my worth in fuller ways: to trust my voice, to move with intention, and to create from a place of deep alignment. Food, beauty, storytelling, they all live here. And I feel called to expand through them, not away from them.
Flashback to My Last Jupiter Return
When I look back at my last Jupiter return in 2013, it honestly feels like a dream. So much shifted for me in the most beautiful, unexpected ways. I moved to New York with my brother, a big, brave move that cracked me open in all the right ways. I launched my cooking show on YouTube, which felt like such a bold step into something that brought me real joy. That same year, I was honoured as Harper’s Bazaar Model of the Year, featured in not one but two of Beyoncé’s music videos (still surreal!), and signed my first major beauty contract with Maybelline. It was a season of bold moves, creative fire, and so many “wow, is this really happening?” moments. And now, looking back, I see how all of those experiences laid the foundation for the path I’m still walking, just with deeper roots and even more intention.
This time around, the energy feels different, a lil softer, slower, but just as powerful. There’s a quiet strength to it. It feels like a return to self… to the version of me that’s more grounded, more in tune, and ready to grow from a place of deep alignment. I’m being called to honour this fertile season not just with reflection, but with intention. It’s a time to plant new seeds, birth new ventures, and maybe even welcome a new edition 👀🫄🏽🙏🏾. I’m open, I’m listening, and I’m trusting the timing of it all.
Journaling Prompts
– What does abundance feel like for me now?
– Where in my life do I feel most held, nourished, and seen?
– What am I ready to expand into emotionally, spiritually, and creatively?
– How can I honour my worth more fully in this next chapter?
– What needs to be softened or released so I can feel more rooted?
Affirmation
I am grounded, worthy, and expanding in divine timing. I trust the season I’m in, and I honour the version of me that’s blooming now.
Summer is all about the senses, golden light, bare skin, salty breezes, and that one scent that lingers long after you’ve left the room. I’m always drawn to fragrances that feel like an extension of mood, memory, and moment… and these four? They’re giving main character energy all summer!. Whether you’re poolside, on a rooftop at golden hour, or barefoot in your kitchen with the windows wide open, whining up yuh self to your summer playlist, these scents are made to be felt.
Here are the fragrances I’ll be reaching for on repeat this summer:
Mango skin by Vilhelm Parumerie
This is juicy, flirty, and truly addictive! If you want to walk around smelling like a big juicy sweet mango ready to be devoured! Lol this is the one for you, you’re welcome 😌🥭💦
Sunplosion Aloha State Of Mind by Simone Andreoli
This smells like pure summer in a bottle with a burst of guava, mango, pineapple and citrus with a sparkling freshness that feels like sipping something chilled under the sun. It’s Light, playful, and full of joy 🥭🍍🏝️🍹
This is a sultry, skin-hugging scent that feels like late nights and secrets shared. It’s smooth, musky, and quietly bold. A tropical scent with an edge of mystery. This pulls people in without even trying, a little goes a long way 🤫😻💃🏾
Hibiscus Mahajad by Maison Crivelli
This scent right here is my ultimate summer muse. She’s radiant, floral, but grown; it’s all about contrast. Think hibiscus and rose wrapped in leather, vanilla, and spice! It’s bold but refined, like silk on sun-kissed skin. A divine balance of being soft yet powerful 🌺🥵

Perfect read before I kick off my Sunday evening routine. Happy Jupiter Return! 🎊🎊 I love that everything you do is rooted in intention, such a powerful lesson. You have given great notes in how I want to navigate Jupiter in Cancer ♋ Sending Blessings as Always 💕💕💕
